Casserole with Meatballs and Cabbage that is Easy to Bake

A substantial dish that is guaranteed to delight is created by combining wonderful meatballs, aromatic cabbage, and savory spices. This supper does not need any frying and may be prepared with little effort. It is ideal for those evenings when you want a supper that is both comfortable and does not need a lot of preparation. To create it, follow these steps:

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

– 1 pound ground beef
– 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1/4 cup milk
– 1 large egg
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried)
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Casserole:

– 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
– 1 large onion, sliced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 cup tomato sauce
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 2 tablespoons olive oil

1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, salt, and pepper.

Cooking the Meatballs:

4. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.

18. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to allow the top to brown slightly.

19. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
20. Serve hot, garnished with additional chopped parsley if desired.
