You can create your appetizer menu just like they do, and you won&#8217;t need fancy tools to make this bloomin&#8217; onion.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">I think this is one of my first imitation recipes. I remember the first time I tried this blooming onion. Onions are sliced so that they open, some will say &#8220;blossom&#8221;.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">The petals are shredded and the onions are saut\u00e9ed and this mixture is then served with an exquisite sauce. I know you will be just as amazed as I was the first time you tried this creation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\">ingredients<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b01 large white onion<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b02 1\/2 cups all-purpose flour<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b02 tablespoons paprika<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b01 teaspoon cayenne pepper<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b01 teaspoon garlic powder<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b01\/2 teaspoon of oregano<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b0Salt and pepper to taste<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b02 large eggs<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b01 1\/2 cup milk<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b01 liter vegetable oil<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">\u00b0Chipotle, Thousand Island or other optional dip<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">*How to make outback steakhouse onions bloom<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">In a medium bowl, combine flour, spices, salt and pepper. Spare.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">In another medium bowl, whisk together eggs and milk until combined. sit sideways.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Cut an inch off the pointed end of the onion, leaving the other root end intact. Then remove the paper skin.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Place onion cut side down on cutting board.Starting \u00be inch from the root, reduce vertically right all the way down to the board with a pointy knife.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Repeat the vertical cuts 1\/2 inch around the edge, being careful not to overlap the previous cuts.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Flip the onion and gently open the onion &#8220;petals&#8221; with your fingers until they look like a flower. sit sideways.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Dip the onions in the reserved flour mixture to coat them completely. Then gently shake off the excess flour.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Gently dip into reserved egg mixture to evenly coat. For best results, let the onions soak in the mixture for 10 minutes.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Return the onions to the flour mixture again, coating them completely.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Place the onions on a plate and freeze for 30-60 minutes, until firm.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Fill a deep skillet or medium saucepan with 3 inches of oil and heat it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a paper towel on the plate and set it aside.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Saut\u00e9 the onions for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Then flip it over with a slotted spoon and cook for a few more minutes until golden brown.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\">Remove the onions to the prepared plate.
